Approximately 6 months ago my Daughter was diagnosed with Patellofemoral Arthritis or
Arthritis of the knee. It is a leading cause of disability in the United States and is more frequently seen in women than men.
Patellofemoral arthritis affects your kneecap (patella bone) and causes pain and swelling in the front of your knee, stiffness and instability. Those who develop arthritis in this portion of the knee only often have specific complaints such as pain with stairs especially descending, pain with prolonged sitting, and pain going from a sitting to a standing position. It also typically worsens on walking on inclined terrain. Although this pain may first become apparent during athletic activities such as running, it is also evident with everyday activities, when squatting, kneeling and lunging and . They may also have anatomical features that put them at risk for their condition.

ANATOMY
The patella is a small bone located in front of your knee joint — where the thighbone (femur) and shinbone (tibia) meet. It protects your knee and connects the muscles in the front of your thigh to your tibia.
The patella rests in a groove on top of the femur called the trochlear groove. When you bend and straighten your knee, the patella moves back and forth inside the groove.
The ends of the femur, trochlear groove, and the undersides of the patella are covered with a slippery substance called articular cartilage. This helps the bones glide smoothly along each other as you move your leg.

Patellofemoral arthritis occurs when the articular cartilage along the trochlear groove and on the underside of the patella wears down and becomes inflamed. When cartilage wears away, it becomes frayed, and when the wear is severe, the underlying bone may become exposed. Moving the bones along this rough surface is painful.
All 5 of my children were encouraged to and actively participated in sports before they even entered elementary school. This daughter [who shall remain nameless because of her career and area's of work], joined and was a very active participant in many different sports. Softball, basketball, wrestling with boys and girls [this was before it was allowed], weight lifting and joined the track team.
In her sophomore year of high school she was on the Girls Track Team for Discus and Shot Put where she excelled. She did so well she was awarded an Athletic Scholarship. While in College she broke and set new records in the Women's Shot Put, Discus and Hammer Throw. An Injury halted her ability to go forward and succeed to participate in the Olympics.
Since her diagnosis 6 months ago my Daughter and I have purchased several knee sleeves that did not provide my Daughter any relief of her symptoms or stability/support as she goes about her day. She is still working and taking OTC Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs pain medication.
I was going to provide you with a list of items we have purchased but decided to just do the " last 3 " that have recently been purchased as none of the Knee Sleeves worked for my daughter. My Daughters Experience with the Liomor Knee Brace

[*] After attaching the strap It felt good and tight.
[*] It is comfortable to wear,
[*] She does not feel any stability with this knee strap
[*] She experienced no pain relief , but It did help a little bit with stress and strain.
[*] This strap did not move, and stayed in place until she removed it.
As I watched my daughter put on this strap she had to move her kneecap back into position. She also had small spots of bruising to her knee.
